Individual Therapy for Whole-Person Mental Health Care
At Wings Recovery Women’s and Men’s Programs, individual therapy is at the core of the treatment experience. When you join one of our gender–specific San Diego mental health treatment programs (residential, PHP, or IOP) you will be assigned an individual therapist immediately. We recognize the importance of one-on-one care in the healing process and have, therefore, made great efforts to make sure our clients receive multiple individual sessions per week. We offer more individual therapy sessions than other treatment programs because we believe the individual treatment you get is core to your healing process. Getting Started
Individual therapy provides you the highest level of intimacy in the therapeutic setting as you build an authentic, compassionate, and professional relationship with your treatment team. At the start of therapy, your individual therapist will ask questions to get to know you and your story, then works with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your needs. Whether you are coming to treatment for trauma and PTSD, DID, depression, or another mental health issue, your therapist’s mission is to help you heal. Count on us to evaluate your needs and help structure your treatment plan to meet those needs from the very first session.
Evidence-Based Individual Therapy
Our therapists use a wide range of evidence-based therapies as part of your treatment. These may include Cognitive Behavior Health, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems®(IFS), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). We believe it’s important that the treatment plan we develop for you is based on research on what is most effective for your condition. Our skilled treatment team will make sure you are receiving the best care possible.
Individual Therapy Schedule
In our residential and PHP programs for men and women, you meet with your therapist twice per week. After transitioning to IOP, you will continue to see your therapist once per week. Patients have the option of meeting with a highly trained trauma therapist up to twice per week as well. Patients may also meet with a psychiatrist for medication management and a nutritional counselor once per week.
All told, that’s up to six individual sessions per week—much more than is offered at most other treatment centers. This is one of the core features of treatment at Wings, and a part of our program that we are very proud of. We believe individual therapy affords you a highly confidential, private, personal and secure opportunity for personal exploration of conscious and subconscious habits, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that have been potentially causing you harm.
